NORTHWEST DISTRICT ATHLETIC BOARD

Minutes of Monday, November 17, 2003

University of Findlay – 4:00 p.m.

 

 

President Long called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.  Those in attendance included Mr. Axe and Mr. Snodgrass.  Mr.Hanna, Mr. Richards and Mr. Palmer arrived a few minutes late.  Also present were Mr. Morrison and Mr. Krauss.

 

The minutes of the October 20th meeting were unanimously approved on a motion by Axe/Snodgrass. Mr. Morrison, treasurer, presented a list of October bills and reported that the current checking account balance is $106,179.12.  A motion by Snodgrass/Palmer to accept this report.  The ASU Group located in Toledo will continue to handle Workman’s Compensation for the year 2004.  This action was unanimously approved on a motion by Hanna/Snodgrass.

 

Chris Smith, Bucyrus High School and Jeff Millcarek, Toledo Central Catholic, baseball coach’s reps discussed the following concerns: 

1.       Establishing playing/rain dates for Sectional tournaments.

2.      Discussed the current sites used for Sectional/District tournaments.  Problems with the Lima Shawnee and Lima Senior facilities were specifically mentioned.

3.      The First Third field in Toledo will not be available for the Division I District tournament since the Mud Hens are at home on those dates.

 

Vern Kiehl, Perrysburg and Charles Renner, Upper Scioto Valley, coach’s reps in cross country/track made the following suggestions:

1.       Coaches are recommending utilizing facilities that would enable vaulting to be conducted so that the vaulting would be with the wind

2.      Start the field events one hour earlier on the second day of competition so they don’t conflict with the semi and final running events.

3.      Discussion of the National Federation rule regarding taping of medical alert bracelets.

4.     The possibility of holding a Division I Regional track meet in the Northwest District.

 

Mr. Hanna, Soccer Coordinator, will contact the tournament manager at Maumee regarding the cost of holding the girls soccer tournament at their site.

 

Miscellaneous business included:

1.       Elimination of the Draw Sheets for boys and girls basketball tournaments.  The Web Site will provide this information.

2.      The secretary was instructed, on a motion by Hanna/Snodgrass to use Rental Contracts for all tournaments.

3.      Agreement to meet with Wrestling Officials Association secretaries to finalize tournament assignments.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.  The next meeting will be held MONDAY, DECEMBER 15 AT 4:00 P.M. AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY, VIP ROOM.
